Hello Everyone,
I have a Desktop of which it refuses to burn CD's
It would burn DVD's but it is now refusing to burn anything
I've reinstalled drives & i've even reinstalled the windows to attempt take it back.
But nothing has yet to happen I was also having problems when attempting to burn a CD
it wouldn't eject the CD but after taking the computer back that problem was fixed.
Only thing the Drive will do i've noticed also is it'll Rip CD's & read reg' CD's (Band CD's)

If anyone can so kindly please let me know what maybe I could do?
I'd be ever so greatful =)
Thanks for you're time.

Can you see the CD Drive in "my computer" Did you get the newest drivers from the manufacturers website?

We also need to know the:
brand and model number your computer is.
What kind of CD/DVD burner do you have. if possible
what operating system you are using.
what program you are using to burn CDs/DVDs
Win XP Pro, Windows 7, Ubuntu. AMD Athlon X2 5600+ 4x1GB DDR2800, 500 GB SATA, Geforce 8500GT.

MCTS, A+, Net+.

Microsoft: "You've got questions. We've got dancing paperclips."

Yep a bad drive could be the culprit, perhaps the lens is damaged, hence only reading.. Did the repair shop give you any info about what was done?

Which version of windows are you running?

If its professional you can check the eventlog for any events related to atapi after trying to burn a cd/dvd. Its located in administrative tools in the control panel, look at the system log.

Perhaps post the drive model so we can check if theres any related issues to that particular model?
