I have an infection on my computer (backdoor/rootkit) and would like to format it!

I was given this guide [post="http://spyware-free.us/tutorials/reformat/"]http://spyware-free.us/tutorials/reformat/[/post] I just want to make sure Im doing this correctly because I REALLY don't want to mess this up!

First I do not have a windows XP cd. I found this [post="Windows XP Help"]http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994[/post] and [post="Windows XP SP2???"]http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=15491F07-99F7-4A2D-983D-81C2137FF464&displaylang=en[/post]. Is this what it is referring to and if so what do i do with it after I download it? Is there somewhere else that I should find the cd?

Next question is whether I have an SATA or IDE hard drive. It looks more like the SATA harddirve picture but it doesnt say SATA.

For number 2 I answered.. "I don't have the drivers (or I want help finding current versions of the drivers I have)"
For number 3 I answered .. "No, I'd like to keep things simple. Just help me create one partition." Is this advisable??

I also had problems with the second part::

I went on the Windows website and it said I was validated ::

but when i ran the second tool.. it doesnt look like its validated::

Im not sure if the above issues are me worrying for nothing..

The next part concerning "Drivers" confuses me!
I have an Acer. What is it that I need to look for?

Thanks! I have very little to no knowledge in this area so please help me out! >.<
