Hello everyone. I am relatively new here.

My problem is my desktop icons. I have them nicely set up the way I want them and then for some mysterious reason the next time I log on they have decided to go their own way.

Is there anyway to lock these blighters in place? Thank you

Welcome friend!
Right click on the desktop. A menu should appear.
Highlite Active Desktop.
Choose lock desktop items.
This works in Me and 98, I would think its the same for XP.

Nope thats not how it works on Windows XP. If you give me a little more time though I'll try and find out a way to lock the desktop icons in place. I would like my icons to be locked in place also so it is worth my time.

Thank you. The only thing checked is "show desktop icons".

 Hi All: Thanks to Wahlroot who provided the link, I downloaded the little app. "Icon Restore" and in it there is a link to lock the desktop icons.

Coolchris706: Perhaps this will do for you also. Again. Many thanks to all who gave advice.

Yes it works very well for me infact. No more worrying about my desktop icons being moved for no apparent reason at all. :flowers: :trumpet:
