I have a Dell Computer, Inspiron 1420. For the past month, when I put the charger in, a screen pops up saying it is on AC power because the charger is not recognized. This is a dell charger. Usually I could get it to charge after taking it out and putting it back in about 30 times. Yesterday, this did not work after about half an hour of trying to get it to charge. I now have 5% battery power left. As long as I am plugged in, it will go no lower, but it also won't charge. I don't have any other power chords to use and I am so frustrated at this point but I don't want to have to buy a new charger. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

By charger do you mean the battery? Can you try the battery in a friends laptop, or try another battery in your laptop? This will tell us if it's the battery itself or the laptop.

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
