Hi everyone, not new to site but new to post,
my problem is this,
internet explorer 7 no longer works

ive tried scanning with numerous anti virus/spyware programmes

i have tried to restore to an earlier date,
but that will not work either
other things ive typed in "RUN"
ask me for my xp disc
but my computer came pre loaded so no disk
any help would be greatly apprieciated
thank you
cheers

You could try tapping F10 continually during boot up, worth a try if you want a reinstall, view the options carefully.

I installed IE8 as an update and didn't care for it much. It can be uninstalled and you will revert to the previous version of IE, in my case IE7. It was no trouble uninstalling IE8, good luck.

dave carter, you might try this application to remove IE8, Revo Uninstaller I have used it with no problems. It gives choices of using the applications' uninstaller only, or going further and removing registry entries created by the application being uninstalled too. If you decide to try it, (Revo Uninstaller) and have questions, please post back here before doing anything, with all tools such as this one, it can remove more than you intended if you're not careful.

edit: before trying Revo go to Add/Remove programs and make sure the "show updates" box at the top of the window is checked. That should show all updates including IE8.

Microsoft Fix It page Click Here the Fix It gadget download is the icon on the lower right side of the page.

You might try uninstalling IE7 too, then download and reinstall it. To complete the removal you may need to reboot at least once, maybe twice.

Did you read and follow the instructions on the page garmanma posted as a fix? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700 Following the instructions should have removed IE8.

You mention that your computer came preloaded and you don't have a CD. Do it come with a recovery disc? A recovery/repair might be an option to consider
