i got an update message from windows update to install the following:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86

i went to the update site and downloaded from it directly (instead through the automatic update icon/feature)

it downloaded completely but failed on installation.

the error message was:
Suite Integration Toolkit Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
i am uploading/attaching the error report file generated.

i tried this many times, and it failed to install even after restarts.

i have winXP SP2 with all windowXP updates except SP3.

i hope this info is sufficient for you to diagnose what went wrong - with my comp, or with me.

regards

FWIW: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=S...mp;oq=&aqi=

I guess that I have to ask...if the prompt came via WUS, why didn't you use it?

IMO, it's possible you downloaded the wrong package...also possible that the download became corrupt/damaged.

You might check Event Viewer for possible related documented errors, How To Use Event Viewer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40108/how-to-use-event-viewer/

Sounds some what ify. IMHO I would update to SP-3. I don't know if this will solve your problem. I have been trying to figure out all the networks I should have. Have you had any part of M/S Office on your computer at any time. When I removed M/S Office from my computer I started having what sounds like the same problems your having. What ever you figure out please get back to us at B/C and let us know what you found.

dear hamluis,
auto updating thru the update available message takes very long, and so, usually (for bigger updates) i go to Windows update site and then go to the list of the custom updates (checked as necessary by the site) for my computer and download / install from there.

as mentioned above, there is no chance i got the wrong package.

i have checked event viewer log. and have attached the list of errors in application and system.
will revert if i have problems.
thanks

regards
