Hello. I am a newbie.

My first computer was (I can barely remember the specifications) - 286 / 20mb HDD / 1mb Ram / 2mb Video Card. Software - Lotus 1-2-3 / Dos. Dos cost me $50 and Lotus was abot $150. My weekly income was about $150 per week, Full time Adult wages. I bought it in 1989 and it cost $1500. i used it as part of my responsiblities as a Warehouse Divisional Manager (ie foreman). I had it at home and did databases and warehouse Management Concepts for my Division.

As the years went by I upgraded to a 386 then a 486/DX. I purchased windows 3.1 for about $200 then upgraded to Windows 95. It was many years before I upgraded to Windows 98 SE and Office 95/version7. I current;y use 5 different computers for 5 different things. I keep half a dozen computers in the cupboard in case any blow up unexpectedly (read that as expectedly!). but basically I have windows XP Corporate Edition / Office 2003 / VB6 / etc... . My main computer is an Intel CPU 2.6ghz, 1 gb Ram / 256mb video / 500 watt PSU / 80gb Master and 40gb slave. My other compuer is a Compaq Presario / 2gb Ram / 120gb Master and 160gb Slave etc and my others are about the same as the main unit. The Presario I use for DVD editing etc..

I did 16 months as a volunteer at a Computer Recycle Charity where we rebuilt old computers for Charitalble Organisations like World Vision. This is where I learnt to build my own computers.

Duer to an illness Iam no longer able to work. I collect old computer and rebuild them at home. It takes me about 2 months to get it up and running. I've only blown up 25 computers so far. I have given away, no charge, 14 computers to deserving people. (I hope they still work). I get my old computers out of rubbish bins and dumpsters. I look like a hobo when I am out looking. Some one asked what I was looking for and I said "Dinner", but he knew I was joking (I think). Another person asked me and I said "Christmas presents for the kiddies" because I also collect other junk as well.

Most days I am bed-ridden but on days when I am well enough, I'll go hunting for parts. I've never stolen anything that wasn't worth stealing, just kidding. I've never used drugs, and I don't drink.

Currently I am classed as disabled because of genetics. I suffered for many years and manged to work but now I am unable to do any work full-time. Fortunately there is high unemployment and the Social Security people aren't bugging me to do part-time or casual work.

I'm so old I was doing things before you were born.

I have a few Geocities sites. Yahoo is closing down Geocities in a few months. If you are interested, you can download any utilities you think you might be able to use. I think they work but I do know they will not do any harm. If anyone is
interested in Microsoft Excel, VB6, Javascrpt, or just plain old junk pages.

Excel 95 and Wolf3d - http://www.geocities.com/geo_marksway

I cannot do anymore utilities but may be able to help in a small way. I am not an expert and hereby declare that any suggestions that I may make are void of responsibility.

Has anyone seen Alpha Centauri?
