What I need to do is the simplest thing, really....

Imagine document with these lines:

aaaaaaaaa
zzzzzzzzzz
ddddddddd
yyyyyyyyy

I need to flip (NOT sort) the lines so that it looks like:

yyyyyyyyy
ddddddddd
zzzzzzzzzzz
aaaaaaaaa

....but I can't find the command or ability to do it in MS word or any free text manipulators I've seen so far.

Any suggestions?

Your restriction to not sort is limiting the answers I think.
None of my business, but why not sort?

You're really looking to manipulate text data. Word has limited capabilities to do that.

Excel does have a variety of Text Functions that may apply. You might be able to play around with some of those functions to see if they fit your needs and then copy/paste your text into a Word document.

Word seems to be able to only sort ascending or descending, and since your text is in non-alphabetic order that you merely want to rotate, it's unlikely that it will be able to do that without the use of a formula function.
