Hello~ ^^ Thx for reading my post :thumbup2: Can someone please offer me an advice on my HJT log? My PC has been running much slower lately and Windows always warns me of not having enough virtual memory... I just experienced this lately for like maybe a month or two ago... I'm playing online games and this interferes quite a bit when my PC goes laggy x_x Can someone please tell me if some of the processes in my log is unnecessary and can be turned off or deleted? I hope this lessens the *burden* of my PC... I've tried posting this log on http://www.hijackthis.de/#anl but it doesn't help much since it only offers general opinions... Thanks for reading and I do hope someone could offer me a word of advice ^^

This is my HJT log ._.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

Hi... Here's my DDS log...
Anyway, my pc is still running slower than before... I'm aware that whenever I install new programs my pc might run slower but previously it wasn't as serious because my pc wouldn't lag and the message warning me about my pc being low on virtual memory never popped up till a few mths ago... So I was thinking if I'm running too many unnecessary programs... Another problem that I've been facing is that whenever I open a certain folder, this DrWatson's program errors and my explorer.exe errors with it... It doesn't occur in each and every folder that I access but I still don't notice any patterns, it just happens randomly. Following that problem, I installed Trojan Remover and ran quite a number of programs that are said to remove malwares including Combofix and Ad-Aware but the problem still insisted. However, my pc might be infected with some unidentified virus as a month ago, I sent some files to a friend via Yahoo Messenger and he claimed that there was a virus attached to it... Thank you to those who are willing to attend to the problems that I'm facing and any help offered is highly appreciated =)

Hi, Yi Ling :thumbup2:

Welcome.

Please read and follow all these instructions very carefully.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

First, I would like to apologize because I was *forced* to reformat because a friend of mine wanted me to teach her how to reformat... Sorry about that... I'm really really sorry. :thumbup2:

However, the problems persisted even after reformat, it's just that the *virtual memory* message from windows haven't popped up as of yet, but windows explorer still errors together with drwatson's program. This time I noticed that the error came from a certain .avi file that came from one of my bittorent downloads. I noticed this because after I errored, I used "run" at startup to access the folder and moved some of my .avi files into another folder and the error didn't occur anymore.

And after running the ESET online scanner, I noticed that it found *multiple threats* in my Nero 9 installer. There's something I want to mention about this installer as when I last reformat my pc, my dad installed this program for me. During the last few years, I've been using Nero to burn CDs n DVDs without any problems but after my last reformat, every time I access the program, it errors. Due to that error, I couldn't back up my files onto DVDs for safety purposes and instead I have to back up into my secondary hard disk which is E:\.

Once again I'm sorry for reformatting, and here's my ESET log.

Hi, Yi Ling :thumbup2:

When you reformat, nothing survives. If you still experiencing the same issues after a reformat, chances are that these may be due to a device connected to the computer that may be malfunctioning. Is there anything is the computer that may be giving you problems; a USB drive, Sound, Graphics,....etc? How much memory is being recognized? (Right click on My computer and select Properties. Wait until the amount of RAM is listed.)

Please run Hijackthis and post a fresh log.

Sorry :thumbup2:
Anyway, my pc has 1.00GB of RAM.
For the few hours after I ran the ESET scanner, the explorer error didn't occur, even if I accessed the folders that usually makes it error.

Here's my HJT log...

Hi, Yi Ling

Glad to know those errors have subsided. The log looks clear. I would recommend you stay away from torrents and other P2P Networks.

Many peer-to-peer networks are under constant attack by people with a variety of motives.

Examples include:
  • poisoning attacks (e.g. providing files whose contents are different than the description)
  • denial of service attacks (attacks that may make the network run very slowly or break completely)
  • defection attacks (users or software that make use of the network without contributing resources to it)
  • insertion of viruses to carried data (e.g. downloaded or carried files may be infected with viruses or other malware)
  • malware in the peer-to-peer network software itself (e.g. distributed software may contain spyware)
  • filtering (network operators may attempt to prevent peer-to-peer network data from being carried)
  • identity attacks (e.g. tracking down the users of the network and harassing or legally attacking them)
  • spamming (e.g. sending unsolicited information across the network- not necessarily as a denial of service attack)
The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  • SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  • ZonedOut + IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  • ATF! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
  • ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed. The standard registry backup options that come with Windows back up most of the registry but not all of it. ERUNT however creates a complete backup set, including the Security hive and user related sections. ERUNT is easy to use and since it creates a full backup, there are no options or choices other than to select the location of the backup files. The backup set includes a small executable that will launch the registry restore if needed.
  • Recovery Console - Recent trends appear to indicate that future infections will include attacks to the boot sector of the computer. The installation of the Recovery Console in the computer will be our only defense against this threat. For more information and steps to install the Recovery Console see This Article. Should you need assistance in installing the Recovery Console, please do not hesitate to ask.
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Miekiemoes.

Best wishes! Posted Image
