Unfortunately I installed this software before reading various topics on how bad the software is and that it is a scam.
Initially it did fix some problems I had, such as missing .dll files, etc. But I'm not so sure now, and it could be slowing down my computer.
Does anyone know for sure what the deal is? What should I do to find if it is affecting my system? And if it is, to completely remove it and replace it with alternate legitimate software?

Any help on resolving this issue is greatly appreciated and my thanks in advance for your help!

Have you tried the Revo Uninstaller?

Thanks o_rly.
The Revo Uninstaller took care of getting rid of the Ascentive software. Don't know if this will make my computer run faster, but it is just peace of mind to not have that software on my system anymore.
