Creating folders

Iam running XP PRO at home no problem however i can no longer create folders either in my docs or on the desktop,when i try the system locks up or all icons vanish for a sec then come back,any help would be greatly appreciated as it is driving me mad.

Do you have any antivirus software/adaware protection?

Try doing this before you crete the folder

Ctrl+Alt+Del and let us knkow how many processes are running.
You might either have too much running in the background or even a virus/spyware/torjan.

Can you move folder contents around or perform maintenance on the contents in My Documents?
