I've been given a machine with Windows 2000 Professional operating system which previously belonged to a university. I am trying to reconfigure it for my own purposes but cannot get anywhere. There does not seem to be an equivalent command to msconfig in other versions of Windows.

How do I find out the running processes?

Also the university has configured the machine so that no new software can be installed, any ideas how I can get round this restriction?

See if the info at this link will help you install MSCONFIG for your Win 2000.

Another will have to help you with your second question.
