So I finally had someone who was knowledgeable with disassemblement (sp?) on the laptop check out my fan. He took it apart, and even got the fan and heatsink out. Awesome. I thought there were dust, that's why it was making a really terrible sound, it's like thudthudthudthud. Anywho, there were no dust, well there were but very little. The guy sprayed it, and as he sprayed the fan, he noticed the sound too. Whenever the computer warms and heats up, the fan will turn on, while the fan is on, it makes a crazy noise.

It does not always happen. But usually does, and doesn't stop until the laptop cools more.

Anyway, is there a way to just buy a cooling fan and not the fan+heatsink or something because I know what is going on? It's just a motor issue I believe that is making the noise.

It's like this.

Can I just buy a new cooling fan? If so, where? I don't know what my make is. It's a Sony Vaio VGN-CS110E. Also, can I add some oil into it and see if it works better or not? Thanks guys.

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

You can search for the type of fan by the make and model of your laptop (that is how I have always done it).
