Hi all i would like to ask some help from you guys.

my desktop is locked. when i do right-click (empty area on my desktop) -> properties -> desktop. the desktop tab is locked some how i don't know how to unlock it.
Please any help is highly appreciated.

It could be due to Group Policy Settings

why won't my laptop work?

Thanks garmanma for the reply,
i m sory to say that i cannot follow this instruction in the link above, i mean when i try to run gpedit.msc i m getting a windows error saying that windows cannot find gpedit.msc. do you know other ways to solve my problem?

Are you using Home or Pro?

WARNING:
(The information provided requires a registry edit)
Improper changes to the registry could render your computer inoperable.
Remember to backup the registry, before making any changes.
Instructions, on how to do that, can be found here:
How to back up, edit, and restore the registry
(I highly recommend, you make a copy of this article, before proceeding.)


Start > Run >regedit > OK

Now locate to the following location:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Look in the right pane for a value called NoDispBackgroundPage. If it exists it should be set to 0 (zero).

For your question, i m using xp home edition.

i try the trick that you advice me but i m still having the same problem. you have any other idea?
