Hi,

I am trying to figure out what is wrong with my Mother-in-law's Desktop browsers.

Win XP SP 3
AVG 8.5
IE 8,Opera and Firefox
Cable modem

She has AOL and can connect fine to the web with AOL's browser.

Her desktop IE 8 which has always worked fine previously returns a 404 when you click on it.

Opera returns a blank page.

I downloaded and installed Firefox for her yesterday, and wouldn't you know it. It shows nothing but a blank page.

I cannot update her Anti-virus nor her Windows update.

She is a retired librarian,so i don't think she was cruising any "wild" sites. LOL

Any suggestions?

I am at my own pc,hers is a 20 minute drive, which i don't mind making to get this mess cleared up.
(anything to have momma-in-law smile at me with grace) lol

This issue has been Resolved. Yay!

I got her browsers fixed.

My sister told me to try uninstalling IE 8.

I researched several sites, and tried to remove IE 8.

Now you can't just uninstall it through Control panel, you need a nifty little help tool i found on microsoft's site.

Uninstall IE 8

Worked like a charm and reverted IE 8 back to IE 7! yay!

All her browsers are working fine now, even all the update services. :flowers:
