I want to know what services are running in Svchost

I have Windows XP SP 2.

I went to the following webpage:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314056

it said:

To view the list of services that are running in Svchost:
1. Click Start on the Windows taskbar, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type CMD, and then press ENTER.
3. Type Tasklist /SVC, and then press ENTER

I did 1,2 and when I tried #3, I got the following error message:

'Tasklist' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

any suggestions?

Are you WinXP Home or WinXP Pro?

WinXP Home not have this option. I tried this on my WinXP Pro computer and the command worked, so everything you did was correct.

It does not exist in XP Home.
You can download it from here:

http://www.computerhope.com/download/winxp/tasklist.exe

Let me know if that worked.

totally worked. sorry for the delayed response.

note for noobs like me:

if you download this program and just run it you won't be able to see the results.

to see results, do the following:

Start > Run > type "cmd" > Enter

Get to the directory where tasklist.exe was downloaded.

type "tasklist" and you will just see all the processes. if you want to see the SVC processes type "Tasklist /SVC"

thanks joshuacat!
