This is crazy but my friend's HP crashed and we tried to do a system recovery since HP has the recovery "disks" already installed to no avail, also won't go into safe mode so I did a clean install. I wiped the entire HD using FDISK Created new partition formatted it Ran XP to try to install it and when I get the license agreement it says to hit F8 to agree to it which I do and it does nothing. I can't pass this agreement screen which is very odd. Any ideas? I even did the same steps to another HD that I had laying around that had 100GB this one has 80G it is 1.5 years old when purchased new to test and same thing. I tried installing WIN98 and it works, Win2K won't allow me to accept either. Any ideas how to get XP back?

Hi xxnonamexx  to BC.

Does your friend's keyboard have an F-Lock Button? If it does, try pressing that before doing F8. I know on my system (also an HP) that I have to set that F-Lock when I am reformatting or else it doesn't work.

Good luck
