I have searched the web and received conflicting info on this file.
Here is a copy of my HiJack this log notice line-
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Conime] %windir%\system32\conime.exe
Should this file be removed or is it a legitimate file?

Hello G Dawg131,

Posted Image

Are your scans coming up clean? Let's have a look at it:

Please navigate to the following file: %windir%\system32\conime.exe

Please go to VirusTotal and submit the file for a scan and post the results in your next reply.

How is your computer running? Any other problems?

Thanks,
tea

Hello Tea.
Thanks for the help.
This all started when I ran a HJT scan and submitted it to http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english
and the only concern was the "conime.exe" file, they give it a neutral rating of 3.65/5 ....?
So I Googled it and found (of course ) way too much info on the file and all conflicting....on one web site it said-
"conime.exe is a process which is registered as the BFGhost 1.0 Remote administration backdoor tool. This backdoor application can allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system." and then to make matters even more confusing I found this site- http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas...library/conime/ and on the same page it says it's a good Microsoft file and should not be terminated AND also says it's a hackers backdoor tool .....? When the file is scanned with my AV or Malwarebytes both say file is clean. The PC seems fine I just need to figure out if my system has been compromised and I got someone looking in..This is the results from the online scan you suggested--

Hi there,

The conflicting reports.....agh....if you knew how many we have to go through! :) I know how you feel. Usually you can tell by the complete path to the file if it's legit or not, but sometimes it's hard to tell. Your seems to be all right, and no need to worry. :thumbup2:
