protecting new computer?

Getting new computer next week,do alot of web surfing,computer will come with norton antivirus on it,know Ill need more than that,what all do you recommend?Thought Id find out before I get a glitch in new computer.Thanks

i can add ...............spywareblaster , adaware , spybot , and a fire-wall if you are without a router .
