backing up Xp

Hi I just got an external HD,(WD),
My question: Is there a way to back up using XP and on a scheduled basis, or do I need an application.. If so does any1 know of good free one?

XP has its own backup program, which is gratis.

I don't use it, but you can read up on it and see if it meets your needs/wants.
