windows xp home edition
When you turn on the computer it auto goes to the safe mode screen and saids it has a problem sayin windows did not start successfully a recent hardware or software change may of coursed this. blah blah i tried to start up normally it loads for a little than blue screen for like .1 of a sec than it restarts. Load with last settings that worked does not work. Than i tried to start windows in safe mode and the white writing gets stuck at
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\FOPN.sys
for a while than restarts.
im pretty sure that is a virus, from what i have came up with
http://www.exterminate-it.com/malpedia/file/FOPN.sys
http://www.spywareremove.com/removefopnsys.html

im trying bootable anti viruses scanners atm but aoss got stuck at scanning windows registry

i don't want to reformat as i need to get some stuff off the hdd.
im wondering what my options are, some that i have came up with are
im thinking booting up xp disc recovery console
delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\FOPN.sys
or repair windows xp

anyone got any advise
-thanks
