I was getting these messages when I tried to access the Word Processor on Works 7, so I bought and installed Works 9. Unfortunately, I'm still getting them. Can anyone help?
Please keep it simple as I'm a real novice. Thanks!

First message:

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\wkgdcach.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team fot more information.

Second message:

Works cannot access one or more files it needs to run the Word Processor. The files may have been renamed, deleted, or moved. Try reinstalling Works, and then starting the program again.

I have reinstalled Works 9 but it didn't help.

Was Works preinstalled on your computer or do you have a CD?

Repair Works 7.0

1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Works.
3. Click Change, and then click Next.
4. When the Options window appears, click Reinstall, and then click Next.
5. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the repair of Works 7.0.

Note Depending on how Works 7.0 was installed on the computer, you may or may not be prompted for the original source files that were used to install Works 7.0. For example, if Works 7.0 was installed on the computer by the original manufacturer, the source files may be on your computer's hard disk. In this scenario, you will not be prompted for the original source files. However, if you installed Works 7.0 from a CD or from a DVD, you may be prompted to insert that disc into the computer's optical CD or DVD drive.

Hi Garmanma...
I followed all of the steps you suggested to repair Works 7 but it didn't help. I am still unable to access the word processor because of a Runtime Error. Could it be that something is messed up in the registry rather than Works being broken? Thanks for all your patience!

I think I would just uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs and reinstall it using your CD
That should take care of your problems
I just figured a repair might have been quicker
