Try opening Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and click on "Desktop". That should give you access to everything that had an Icon on the desktop.

You should also be able to find a link to it if you search MS HELP for "system restore."

1. Press Ctrl+alt+del to enter the task manager
2. File
3. New Task (Run)
3.Type in the command box "explorer .exe"

The taskbar should appear now
Do what you know (sys restore)

If this doesn't result, type in the command box "msconfig" instead of explorer.exe
Then choose start System Restore in the lower right corner
