Dear members,

I have got a new Acer Travelmate 4335 laptop. I am having a wifi connection at home.

Now even when I dont open any websites, when I double click on network icon in system tray, I see that connection is active with send and receive activity going on. Moreover, just normal surfing (opening websites without any other heavy downloads) shows much receive bytes. For eg just for logging into yahoo messenger, i shows 1MB of received data!! And checking a couple of mails takes it to 5 MB!!

I have broadband connection tariff as per my usage/download. Now due to this heavy downloading without any visible reason, is giving me high bills.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me on this.

Thanks and regards,
Nirav

NB:- I have turned-off windows auto updates. I use quick heal anti virus, and have turned off the auto updates
