I have Ubuntu 9.04 on three computers now and they work fine BUT
on my last installation, Totem movie player does not work. It asked
for the usual codecs search and it did that. All seemed well but when
I try to use it, it streams very fast and than the thing just dissappers.
I was going to re-install the whole thing from scratch...Sound like
a good idea?

Yeah, that is kind of flaky. It works pretty good for .mp4 encoded video after getting the updates

That could work.

I prefer VLC to Totem, myself. Never had any problems with it. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ubuntu.html

You truly are AMAZING.
I activated vic and it works great.
Still couldn't find anything missing from
Totem but now...who cares.
Thanks again.....

I have to add this....I re-booted my computer and now have the
option of Winxp pro, Ubuntu 9.04 AND Ubuntu 8.04 which I've had
for a while. I'm using 8.04 right now to see if Totem works on this
OS and it does....Probably download vic here also....

Late, late, last night I fooled around a bit with
another computer and was able to get VLC directlyl
from the add/remove software under applications.
I screwed up my computer that I was bragging about
having three OS's on....Long story short it is now
dedicated 100% to Ubuntu 8.04. I'll try updating it
to 9.04 but for today, I'm giving it a rest.
