Windows instaler patches. 18G

I have 18G's of windows installer patches. I have never had this problem before. What can i get rid of? I had really low space and this was one of the bigest things i found with the program windirstat. Any ideas?

Are you referring to Windows XP critical updates that need to be installed on your system?

ya i assume that is what it is but why 18 G? I have never seen this much update files.
