Yesterday morning my PC was infected with Anti Spyware 2009.

Windows XP MCE SP3

I have done the follwing since yesterday:

run clnmgr to remove temp files

manually checked all "temp" folder for items missed

ran the following apps:
Avenger
MalwareBytes
SuperAnti Spyware
SpyBot S&D
HiJack This
ComboFix
McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise

Each found items, which i've fixed and i've re-run until all came back clean.

However, both Firefox and Explorer are suffering from repeated dns redirects.

It seems to go away when I run: ipconfig /flushdns

Explorer, cannot stay running longer than a few minutes without hanging with a 1002 event.

however when I restart, and sometimes without a restart the DNS cache becomes corrupt again.

I did find an exe that none of the above products found: C:\windows\system32\loader49.exe, which i deleted.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT: Moved to appropriate forum

Can you please post the earliest (first) MBAM log file. Also update MBAM and do another quick scan and post the new log.

xblindx, thanks for the info.

I ended up doing the following which seemd to fix the problem.

1) disconneced from the internet
2) ran clnmgr to remove temp files
3) MalwareBytes & SAS (Both clean)
4) ran ComboFix

Found the following:

Deleted:
c:\windows\emMON.exe

Infected:
Infected copy of c:\windows\system32\sfcfiles.dll was found and disinfected
Restored copy from - c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\sfcfiles.dll

Hope this helps someone out there.

Just thought you might want to know:

Combofix is a very powerful tool which should never be used without the guidance of an expert. It may corrupt your system and cause it to become un-bootable.
You should NEVER run Combofix unless you are under the supervision of an expert.
