My monitor flickers on and off and after that the diplay becomes distorted. Do I need to change my graphics card? I have an ASUS Nvidia geforce 7600gt. tried updating the drivers still does it.

Sounds like the monitor is going out.

Try a different monitor on the computer
[If the problem goes away it was the monitor]

or a different computer on the monitor.
[If you have the same problem it's the monitor]

Either way you'll determine if it's the monitor or video card.
