Hi,

I am a new member and started with the Tutorials. I have tried to install the free Zone Alarm firewall but it does not complete. I have to kill the PC and reboot. I can then un-install ZA.

Any suggestions on what might be the problem?

Thanks,
Steve

IIRC...ZA is not particularly system-friendly at times.

It's not the only free firewall or the best free firewall...I suggest trying a different one.

If you still have problems installing, it's then a system problem that we need to solve.

I've used ZA, Comodo, and currently use Sunbelt. I've also used other paid firewalls.

They all work, with the differences being how they work and amount of detail a user wants to be exposed to, IMO.

ZA sometimes behaves strangely with antivirus products installed. You may want to disable antivirus and try installing ZA.

Version 8 of ZA free does NOT behave strangely with AV.
Version 7 did because ZA free at that time included hidden AV drivers meant for the update to the Suite product. That is no longer the case.
