Have a Dell 4550 Dimension with Windows XP Intel Pentium. Monitor has black screen but can hear all the sounds and mechanics working when computer turned on. Light on front of monitor lights up but no picture. Believe this model has an ACP 4X or AGP 4X (hard to decipher letters). How do I know if a new video card is needed or if there is some other problem. Computer is not in warranty.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The monitor looks to be the lightest object. Take it to a friends place and hook it up to his computer. That should tell you where the problem lies.
