My laptop just crashed and gives a lost registry "c00000e9" error code.

I have at this time mislaid my original Vista CD.

I can access the drive via a USB combo adapter so I can see the drive and its contents for some folders but I cannot access the Documents & Settings folder to recover my data files, as they are Attributed as /S /H.

Can you help at all? I am urgently needing to recover my data files and hopefully will not need to rebuild the whole system again. Please tell me I will not need to do that!

I am in the middle of an important essay and I need my data files urgently for university.

Is this a Lenovo laptop?

I cannot access the Documents & Settings folder to recover my data files,

Take ownership of a file or folder:
