Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well

My computer has recently been acting up... Slowing way way down, the Mozilla FF folder keeps popping up when I'm online, and so on. Tons of processes are running that I have no idea what they are.

Someone told me I should download and run HijackThis, but I'm a noob and have no idea what the results mean. When I clicked AnalyzeThis, it pointed me in the direction of this forum... I guess I'll go ahead and post its log and see if anyone can help me interpret:

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Hello thank you for your reply!

Since I made my original posting, I've used Malwarebytes and CCleaner to delete files they deemed not good for my machine. I've also disabled just about every program possible from starting up when the computer boots up.

Still, it is running incredibly slowly. I fear there may still be something wrong with it. I've run HijackThis another time, and saved its log file. I've also run the DDS as instructed. Their log files are also attached.

I notice there is sign of one P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer. Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe.
You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.
You are well advised to remove it. Go to start > control panel > Add or Remove Programs. uninstall this file listed below.

If you already have Combofix, please delete that copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time. Once Recovery Console is installed, you should see a blue screen prompt like the one below:

1.Close/disable all antivirus and antimalware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

2.Click Yes to allow Combofix to continue scanning for malware.

When done, a log will be produced (or locate it in C:\ComboFix.txt). Please post that log in your next reply.

Do not mouse click on Combofix while it is running. That may cause it to stall.


Step2
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.

I have unpleasant news for you. In addition to some backdoor malwares in the system, one of the infections is identified as Sality or so-called Virut virus. It's a file infector, and as such our efforts in cleaning will be futile. You'll be better off to perform a reformat and reinstall (clean install).

Win32/Virut.BM is a polymorphic file infector that targets .EXE and .SCR files. This virus also opens a backdoor by connecting to an IRC server, allowing a remote attacker to download and execute arbitrary files on the infected computer. you may refer to the following thread.

Backup all your documents and important items (personal data, work documents, etc) only. DO NOT backup any executable files (softwares) and screensavers (*.scr). It attempts to infect any accessed .exe or .scr files by appending itself to the executable.
