Greetings,

I recently had help clearing Malware i had, but i the only issue left was mIRC(Internet Relay Chat) program was locked(channel joining) causing me not being able to join chat channels.
I was refered here by suebaby41 of the HJT Team in the section of HijackThis Logs and Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal. I hope someone can help me with the problem i have. Thanks so much!

If you join a server on mIRC but cannot join a channel, then mIRC is not to blame.
Some channel owners can set rules, lock access to the channel etc

What exact meesage is shown by mIRC?

Open mirc.

If your nick is registered, enter it as you normally would.

Up at the top, click FILE, choose Options.

When Options opens, under the menu on the left side of the page, Expand General, click on Lock.

Click UNLOCK, you'll be asked for your password.

After entering your password, click OK.

Click OK in the main Lock Options box.
Close out mirc, open it back up.

You should now be unlocked and able to join a channel.

Thanks for the quick reply Queen-Evie. But the main problem is unlock cant be done without a password and i didnt set a password at all to lock the channels at any time.
I had this same issue back in Oct 19 2008 when HJT Team's PropagandaPanda solved all the issue even to the mIRC channel lock option. If i'm not wrong it was done by the malware all together.

Is your user name registered? If it is the password you set up when you registered the name is the one you use to unlock.

I'm really not sure if unlocking would work if you are locked out of all channels. Every channel would have to be specified as locked. But it is worth a try if you do have a registered nick and use it for unlocking.

If you can't get it unlocked, you could uninstall mirc, and reinstall.
When reinstalling, uncheck all the boxes on the main installation screen.
And make sure you know the information for IRC server and group.

Something you might try is in Mirc hit Alt + O and on left hand menu go to bottom and click "Other"

Now click on Lock and make sure "Limit channel to" isn't checked.

See if that helps

I coded a little program for you to unlock mIRC. (attached mIRC Unlocker)

This will work only if mIRC is really locked else would generate exception.

See if it works.

Edit: Re-uploaded mIRC unlocker

Attached File  mirc_unlocker.zip   16.12KB   22 downloads

For the benefit of all, the below attached shows the issue of the lock option i was in. It isnt set by the orginal user nor the nick is being registered. Problem has been solved after Romeo29's reply of a little helpful program he coded.
