Hi,

I have formatted my harddisk and reinstalled the original 5 years old
XP on it. I think there is no service pack what so ever on the OS.
Now I need to update it with SP2 or SP3 - the problem is that I have
difficulty finding the correct SP for single computer at Microsoft site.
Please point me in the right direction, a link would be wonderful.

Thank you,
Martti

Hello Martti,

I think the best thing for you to do is the following, Head over to the following link -

Microsoft Update

Run through that page and it will add a Microsoft Update icon to your start menu, head over to there, it will list all the updates required for your computer - Service Packs and Hotfix's. It will be best to install the updates reboot and try again it might take a few trys to get you fully up to date.

I hope this helps you.

Best Regards,

James

I agree with scff249. It has worked for me time and again. It most likely will take more than one time to get all the down load up dates. I contacted M/S and they mailed me a c/d of SP3 at no cost about a year ago. I don't know if they still do this service.

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Latest SP is always the best.

For Windows XP 32 bit : SP3
For Windows XP 64 bit : SP2

To install SP3...XP needs to have at least SP1 installed.

To install SP2...XP needs nothing but a valid install of XP.
