This invovles editing the registry. Make sure that you have a back-up prior to attempting. If you do not see the exact words, then DON'T guess, just ask. These have all been tested on XP Home, but Pro should work.

How to display the same message before Windows loads:
Ex: for a business that you want your employees to read before logging in.
  • click START->RUN->type regedit to start the registry editor
  • Navigate to key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
  • right-click LegalNoticeCaption and select Modify
  • type Attention where it says Value Data, and click OK
  • right-click LegalNoticeText and click Modify
  • Where it has Value Data, type the message that you want to say, and click OK
The next time that you start up Windows, the captioned message (whatever you typed in Value Data) will display. This will occur before they log in, and they have to click OK to continue.

I have this on some of my clients' computers, so that if the computer goes out and comes back, it can NOT get online, without them knowing about it. Well, they have to click OK, anyway.

I do have a few more Logon tricks, and will edit this message as necessary.

I think I need a trick to make logon as simple as possible and still be able to do anything neccessary down the road if, or rather when problems requiring full acces as an administrator are needed because of the way winxp is set up. I don't feel I'm there, yet.

I am still working out the kinks of eliminating the Logon Screen entirely. I wanted to test it out on a few computers prior to submitting, but I cant get it to work. As soon as I can, I will let you know. Do you have any suggestions, other then what I mentioned, on what you want to accomplish?
