I have a file system that XP home does NOT recognize and interferes with cd and dvd writing . It looks like this ; \\?{number} . I find this by running regedit FIND \\? . It's in a lot of keys and hives .
I cannot see it on my hard drive because xp says files don't start this way.
How can I kill this file system because it is on 4 of my hard drives .

Let me explain myself better ;

I have XPhome SP2 on a 1.7 gig VAIO with 725 megs ram .
My dvd/cd drives sometimes arn't there,sometimes they say "put disk in" , "not allowed".

I can reboot and just before windows takes over I press F8 and the computer goes into SAFE MODE.
One of the selections on the menu is " Directory services Restore Mode (windows domain controllers only )

Windows enters safe mode but checks the harddrive for file systems .
Windows reports that it has found an UNKNOWN filesystem it can not determain .
Windows prints to the screen "\\?Volume{8315cd26-3546-11db-ad93-806d6172696F}\

I can not reproduce this file system except in reg edit . Then I delete SymbolicLink 8193 .
Do not reboot but test the cd/dvd drive .

Question ? Is this a server setup by mallware ?

I have used CMD.also RC but the file will not show up.
