Internet V.Slow - any help? (please!)

Sorry to clutter up the forum when others have got some real probs, but dunno where else to ask for help. For a while now my internet explorer has been working incredibly slowly. I've run loads of checks (different online virus scans, pcpitstop, downloaded loads of spyware tools/finders) and found nothing. As a last resort I'm posting this hijack this logfile, to see if any of you knowledgeable people can find anything. Thanks in advance for you time and patience, Pete.

Hello Eccer2001 and welcome to the BC forums. After reviewing your log I only see 1 item to fix and it shouldn't have anything to do with slow internet loading. Let's fix that and then talk about some other things.

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

OK. Now let's talk about the slow response time. Is everything slow on the computer or just the internet browsing?

Have you contacted your ISP regarding this problem (it might be an issue with their service)?

Are there any other computers on the same connection and do they all exhibit this problem or just this computer?

Do you notice any other irregularities like popups or page redirects or hijackings?

Let's try some standard cleanup procedures and see how much junk we can clean up.

Download CCleaner and install it. Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Ok. Reboot your computer and run it normally. Post back with as much detail as you can regarding any problems and we'll see if we can point you in the right direction.
