Western Digital External HD not recognized by my PC

guys i hope you can help me...i've been using my WD EDD for a year now without any problems, but for some reason now when i plug it in, it's not being read by the PC and some box pops up, saying searchin for installer or something. it doesn't have one and never needed one before.

pls help me! by the way i use windows xp.

What does it say after it try's to search for the installer? does it ever show up in mycomputer?
