Thank you for the opportunity to say, "hello". I decided to become a member after scanning the site, and finding at least a couple of the questions and answers to be understandable. (That is meant as a compliment.) I am 53 and have recently retired from a large organization. I have used a desktop computer since the late '80s, but have always had superb technical support provided by others. It was a sort of cadillac service because if I didn't understand the issue through telephone discussion, a techie would be by my side usually within moments, certainly within the day. Now I have to become my own helpdesk. Perhaps you folks can help too.

Alas! No member can come to your desk and fix your computer, but he or she can help with problems posted in the appropriate forum, and actually explain things in more or less non-technical English.
Welcome to one of the best internet help desks around!
