My XP computer is not able to start properly. It will load up like normal until right after the XP logo screen. At that point, the screen stays black with the mouse pointer. Although I can move the mouse around the screen, I cannot left click or alt-cntrl-del to open up task manager. When I try to boot in safe mode I get the exact same problem - it won't get passed a black screen with a mouse pointer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
