I have a Lexmark X4550 printer which has been installed on my Dell PC and working fine for a year or so. But twice now recently when I have started up, the printer is gone and I have to re-install it - any ideas why?

The printer, itself or the software also?
Is it a USB connection?

No the printer is still ok as other laptops can see it, it just disappears off of the home PC and I have to reinstall using the CD
