Last month DaChew was so kind to help out of a problem (see This Thread). Well the problem never really went away. Every few days fo so I would have to run Dr.Web-CureIt and SDFix. When I tried this today, the problem got worse. I now have no desktop icons, task bar or start menu. I tried running SDFix and it says it cannot open explorer.exe. Also, if I try to run explorer.exe from the task manager, it fails as well. I am running XP Pro. System restore isn't working either. HELP!!

Boot into Safe Mode.

Right click on the C drive in Explorer and go Properties > Tools > Check Now (under Error Checking). Check both boxes then click "Start Now". A message will pop up saying that Error Checking will run after you restart the computer. Restart the computer and Error Checking will run automatically after the restart. After itís finished it will restart into Windows automatically.
