PARIS, France (AP) -- Actor Tom Cruise said he and girlfriend Katie Holmes are engaged, after he popped the question early Friday morning atop the Eiffel Tower.

Now dont get me wrong, I am not against anyone being in love, nor am fascinated by celebs, but something about this whole thing seems just weird to me.

I guess what I find strange is that so many people (or anyone for that matter) find stories like this interesting or even important.

I hate to say it, but this is a way of avoiding things we should know, likw this "war" we're in. I could care less about celebs getting married or engaged or being adulterous or touching/not touching little kids. I'm not going to rant though... I agree with you all.

We're going to make the merry-go-round go faster, so everyone needs to hang on tighter-just to keep from being thrown to the wolves.

Now had they jumped, then it might have been an interesting story.

Oh well, now that Brittney is taken too I guess I'll have to find another fantasy. :flowers:

Grinler you are right how bizarre it is. What is weird is that Tom is almost twice her age. I agree with efizzer on Lindsey Lohan...

The media finds it easier, and cheaper, to talk about people rather than about ideas. They jump from one fabricated cause celebre to another without missing a beat.
The really sad thing is that this is what people want.

They did repeat on the radio that she wanted to marry him since she was 10. Talk about fairy tales coming true...

I agree with you John...

Cruise Encounters of the Third kind

Katie Holmes may have fallen for it, but Tom Cruise’s sci-fi seduction technique scared the bejeezus out of Scarlett Johansson.......
....... After striking out with Johansson, Cruise reportedly turned his attentions to 24-year-old Jessica Alba, 22-year-old Kate Bosworth, and 18-year-old Lindsay Lohan, before settling on the 26-year-old Holmes.

I grew up reading sci-fi, Arther C. Clark, Isaac Asimov and many others. The one I always avoided was L. Ron Hubbard, pure bleep.

I have a few actresses and actors I really do care about. I think this poor Holmes girl is going to get burned tho... she is living out a dream, one she had when she was a kid. Well princesses do not REALLY live happily ever after IMHO. I'd like to say I don't care about it but I guess I do. LOL

Of course at that time she was only a few inches taller than he was.
