This issue has been confusing me for a while. I run Windows XP, i have an Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG wireless connection, and whenever I start up windows, that wireless software takes a long, long time to start working. I usually wait about a minute once my desktop shows up, before i can even start searching for a wireless connection. Hopefully I'm asking in the right spot, but anyhow, is this a common, resolvable issue? Or just something you have to deal with when you refuse to upgrade to vista?
