Hi ,
When I boot the computer it just comes up with a blank blue screen. If I restart it in safe mode. I can get some control. As an example if I do a Cntr/Alt/Del the task manager appears and I can get it to start my explorer. I then get a screen with my icons on it. If I put in a memory stick I can access it. I am sending you this request by my laptop as I can't get online with my desktop. So I have to run the programs and save them to my memory stick. To post them here. I was actually able to make a new users account. My origional account is no longer available and when it was it was a restricted account. So many items said you can't do this without administrative priveledges.
I can run some programs in safe mode. For instance I ran my reg vac program and it found 407 invalid entries which I told it to delete. I ran my avg 8.5 in safe mode as well and it opened a window that looked like it was working in dos mode. But it did scan.
I can not change any of the desktop pictures they are locked. I can change the other tabs in the display properties box.
As the AVG scan was going along it found several virus and put them in the virus vault. It did find a lot of locked files and was not able to test them.
Now I have to wait until the scan is finished as I can not remove the memory stick without shutting the computer off. I have no way to stop it like you do normally. From the scan so far it seems like it is moving a lot of something calles Win32/Virut to the vault. So I may have got a mixed bunch of virus infecting my computer. I am thinking it may be time for a complete re-format and reload a new OS. I was thinking I should put Win XP X64 on there. So now it may be time.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE
