Please help, found trojan Olmarik.FT with NOD32

Hello,

I was browsing the internet earlier when I opened a page I was immediately redirected to a different site and a lot of things started happening.. Not totally sure what, but the new page that came up had a few progress bars that kept scanning through, what I don't know, but it was moving rapidly. SpywareGuard kept denying processes from different BHO's and NOD32 showed a threat from W32/Olmarik.FT trojan..

I ran an indepth scan of the drive with NOD32 and removed three files in the Documents and Settings folder in the temp directory..

Also, when I rebooted the computer, it would not reboot normally... It seemed as though the Boot Order was changed to CD first.. The screen that comes up when Windows is not shut down properly appeared asking for Safe Mode... etc.. I chose start windows normally, and it just kept rebooting.. Finally, I chose reboot from last know good install (or whatever the option said).. Booted fine... Ran a few more scans, every thing seemed clean, rebooted again, this time it said Non system disk error, press any key to continue..

I got into the BIOS and Removable Disk was selected as Primary boot option (I do have a USB drive in the back of the computer, I was using it to back up data after this problem)

I have since to try and reboot again, but I did take a HJT log, ran AdAware, Spybot S&D, NOD32, and HTJ..

Hi

Do you realise how much trouble you can get yourself into AND your computer could suffer!

You have posted a HJT log in the Am i infected, what do i do? which lets other users try and help and mess your computer up because they have NO IDEA what they are doing!!

Lol, Top tip: Post HJT in the HiJack this forum!!

Thanks for the tip, was trying to do everything quickly and took a few shortcuts..

Will make sure I read through all the forum rules and titles next time :thumbsup:

No worries, BC is a huge site and it takes time to learn one's way around.

We do not allow more than one topic for the same computer and the same issue as this causes confusion, and in this case may make the disinfection process more difficult.

This leaves you with a choice:

1) Have this thread reopened and the HiJack This log topic deleted

OR


2) Keep this thread closed and wait for assistance in the HiJack This log forum. Please note that that forum is VERY busy.

Please send a Private Message indicating your choice.

Assuming you wish assistance in the HiJack This forum, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
