Hi, Im kinda of new in Ubuntu... I just installed Ubuntu 8.10... but I cant go wireless... I downloaded the wireless card driver for Windows XP (RTL8187B) and its being recognized by ndiswrapper and the wireless light is showing on my laptop (Gateway1625) but when I click on the Network Connections icon on the taskbar it shows only Auto eth0 and the Wireless Networks option is grayed out...

When I run "iwconfig" I got the following:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:off/any
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.457 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
Bit Rate:54 Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm Sensitivity=0/3
RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

pan0 no wireless extensions.

Maybe Im skipping a step or something... can anyone help me ???

Hmmm.... As I understand it, the RTL8187B WiFi card if supported natively by Ubuntu 8.10. Did you try just plugging it in without using NDisWrapper?
