I have Windows XP Professional SP2 and faced a problem with Windows Disk Defragmenter. I have installed ‘ASHAMPOO Win Optimizer 6’ in my computer and used that app to defrag my hard disk several times. But now when I get back to windows own built-in defragmenter and select any drive to defragment, it says, “Disk Defragmenter could not start”.
Now, is there any way to restore the default setting without uninstalling ‘Ashampoo Win Optimizer’?
Page File isn’t turned off in my PC. It is system managed sized.

Thanks for any help.

In the services is DCOM Server Process Launcher disabled ?
you could also try running defrag from a command prompt

just type in > defrag c:

or try this link
