TIA, next time I have funds in my paypal, I can donate.

I had an internal hard drive go out in my desktop last week, and I forgot that it was where all my protection/tools (AVG, Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, CCleaner, Combofix, ect) were located.

Well I picked up a virus, I am sure. After the virus hit, it went to the blue screen, then when i rebooted it warned me that many registry values had been changed, and to inser the Windows XP disk. I did not have the disk.

Symptoms: First noticed I got the Google "redirect" in blank tabs whenever I clicked a google link.

I redownloaded AVG, Malwarebytes, and Spybot.

Avg installed and ran (I provide details below) but even when I wanted to remove all unhealed viruses, it will not.

Malwarebytes will not go past the exe, so i cannot install it. Spybot installed, but when I go to open the program, it will never open, same as a few other programs. So it will not let me install or run many programs. (I have not tried to rename as .com yet).

Here is my AVG log, and a pic of my task manager processes.

Hello you may find it easier to disable SpyBot for these. Try some of these to get us an MBAM (malwarebytes) log.

Some types of malware will disable MBAM and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it.

Before saving any of your security programs, rename them first. For example, before you save Malwarebytes', rename it to something like MBblah.exe and then click on Save and save it to your desktop. Same thing after you install it. Before running it, rename the main executable file first
***
Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file and change the .exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run.

If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files, right-click on mbam.exe and change the .exe as noted above. Then double-click on it to run..

***
Another work around is by not using the mouse to install it, Just use the arrow keys, tab, and enter keys.
***
Open up command prompt, type in following commands:
XP >> click the Start menu at the lower-left of your computer's desktop and select "Run". Type cmd into the Run box and click "OK".
Vista >> click the Start menu at the lower-left of your computer's desktop and Type cmd in the search box.

regsvr32 mbamext.dll
regsvr32 ssubtmr6.dll
regsvr32 vbalsgrid6.ocx
regsvr32 zlib.dll

****

If you cannot use the Internet, you will need access to another computer that has a connection.
From there save mbam-setup.exe to a flash, usb, jump drive or CD. Now transfer it to the infected machine, then install and run the program.
If you cannot transfer to or install on the infected machine, try running the setup (installation) file directly from the flash drive or CD by double-clicking on mbam-setup.exe so it will install on the hard drive.

Manually Downloading Updates:
Manually download them from HERE and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Alternatively, you can update through MBAM's interface from a clean computer, copy the definitions (rules.ref) located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from that system to a usb stick or CD and then copy it to the infected machine.

***
Try using a System Retore Point prior to the date of infection. You may be able to update and run MBam. Note this did not remove the malware.

Whenever I try system restore, it will not go past the last <next> button that restarts and restores. I can keep pressing the last <next> button without it doing anything.

I tried all of your advice. I actually got Malwarebytes to install jumping from my Blackberry storage drive and renaming *.com

I still cannot open or run Malwarebytes even after trying all your suggestions numerous times.

When opening Command Prompt and typing in the values, I get an alert that says: "LoadLibrary("mbamext.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Let's see if we can run These
From your regular user account..
Download Attribune's ATF Cleaner and then SUPERAntiSpyware , Free Home Version. Save both to desktop ..
DO NOT run yet.
Open SUPER from icon and install and Update it
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
Close browsers before scanning.
Scan for tracking cookies.
Terminate memory threats before quarantining
.
Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program. DO NOT run yet.

Now reboot into Safe Mode: How to enter safe mode(XP)
Using the F8 Method
Restart your computer.
When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode
.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox or Opera browser click that browser at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program
.

NOW Scan with SUPER
Open from the desktop icon or the program Files list
On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
Perform a Complete scan. After scan,Verify they are all checked.
Click OK on the summary screen to quarantine all found items.
If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally.

To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log.
A text file will open in your default text editor.
Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
