Hello, I have a question.. I have a pretty much frankenstein put together computer that I bought. It works fine with only the exception of a really bad lack of memory. (412 MB) I believe. I went to a local computer store and purchased another memory stick. The memory stick fits snug into the motherboard. (since there are two slots for memory sticks on the main board) I was told I can use both memory sticks since the main board can handle up to 2Gigs of memory. With the old memory stick and the new memory stick, my new memory should be roughly 1.5 Gigs. Well, I put the second memory stick in and restart the computer, and it does not want to load correctly. It boots for about 2-3 seconds then goes to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen.. Any suggestions? And thank you in advance..

Whenever installing or removing a memory stick unplug the computer & press the On button to dessipate any stored electricity before ope3ning the case.

Please post anything you can find on both memory sticks.

The computer is an EMachines T2642
The Mainboard isan MSI PM8M3-V
VIA P4M800CE+VT8237R Plus Chipset Based
PM8M2-V Socket 775 All in one Socket 775

The memory sticks are: (I have 2 other ones that I am not using but wish I could)
Stick 1)
MT 16LSDT3264AG-133E1 PC133U-333-542-A
MY M00WTZR 200201
256MB, SYNCH, 133MHz CL3

Stick 2)
Samsung Korea 0342 C
PC2100U-25330-AO
M368L3223DTL-CBO
256MB DDR PC2100 CL2.5

I know one of them doesn't fit on the mainboard. I forget which one since I'm looking at both. I hope that helps since I have no idea on what any of those numbers and letters mean..

From your post ,

"Stick 1)
MT 16LSDT3264AG-133E1 PC133U-333-542-A
MY M00WTZR 200201
256MB, SYNCH, 133MHz CL3"

"Stick 2)
Samsung Korea 0342 C
PC2100U-25330-AO
M368L3223DTL-CBO
256MB DDR PC2100 CL2.5"

The Emachine T2642 uses DDR memory,

Stick 2 ,PC2100, is DDR memory & correct for the motherboard.

Stick 1 is PC133 memory which shouldn't even fit the slot & is incorrect for the unit.

If you look at the memory sticks #2 [DDR] should have 1 notch in the contact edge.

Stic #1 [PC133 SDRAM] should have 2 notches in the contact edge.

On doing a little more research , neither memory stick will work on your PM8M3-V
motherboard.
It only supports PC2700 & PC3200 according to MSI .
